The Design Process

1 - Site Visit

Understanding the site →

Every project begins in person.

We walk the property and talk through how you want to live outdoors while assessing the conditions that will shape the design:

  • orientation, sun exposure, and wind patterns

  • soil structure and drainage

  • existing trees, views, and privacy

  • access, circulation, and maintenance realities

This visit establishes the scope of work and confirms that the approach suits both the site and the client. No templates—only site-specific direction for Gorge conditions.

2 - Design

Clear plans, practical decisions →

The design phase translates conversation into a working landscape strategy:

  • scaled drawings and layout plans

  • native and climate-adapted plant palettes

  • material studies and precedent images

  • phasing options and realistic budgets

We coordinate with trusted regional landscape contractors to develop accurate construction estimates so the design remains grounded in achievable costs and timelines.

3 - Install

From drawing to site →

During construction we remain actively involved to ensure the intent holds as the garden is built:

  • layout verification and grading review

  • sourcing plants from local growers

  • on-site decisions as conditions evolve

  • coordination between client and contractor

A landscape is not assembled—it is adjusted in real time. Our role is to guide those adjustments with a steady hand.

After

Completion

Gardens change with seasons and use.

We return as needed to review establishment, refine maintenance practices, and help the landscape mature as intended.

“Their attention to detail and commitment to quality truly stood out. We’ve already recommended them to others.”
